What is hypoallergenic dog food

Hypoallergenic means less likely to cause allergy. Hypoallergenic dog food is all about reducing the potential risk of food-based allergies or intolerances. The most common food allergens in dogs are proteins, especially those from beef and chicken. Licking paws or showing signs of irritated ears. Gastrointestinal problems such as diarrhoea, vomiting, gas or bloating. A loss of appetite and disinterest in food. Any of these issues should be accessed by your veterinarian.

Your vet may recommend an elimination diet for a period of time which will restrict some of the ingredients found in your dog’s current food.
